The SCREWSTON COLLECTION

Creative, Copy, Branding, Art + Illustrations, Enamel Pins, Photography

Before launching my brand, I created a collection of prismacolor marker drawings of honorary Houston rappers for The All Access Art Show. It was important for me to pay homage to the rap legends of my city through my creativity. This collection has continued to expand over the years with new items and story telling that feels like home. Intentional drops around June 27th are anticipated to honor the Texas holiday in commendrum of the day DJ Screw released the June 27 freestyle in 1996. Often, that freestyle is sampled and chopped and screwed versions of albums are continuously made. The products I’ve created fill up homes, make people proud to be a Houstonian, and have sold out in some of Houston’s top streetwear stores such as Premium Goods, Proper, and The Tipping Point Store. As a native Houstonian, the love I have received from this collection means more to me than anybody knows. Take some time to review the various pieces I’ve created over the years. This collection will continue to expand.

the contemporary arts MUSEUM of houston

In 2020, the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston organized an exhibition called "Slowed and Throwed: Records of the City Through Mutated Lenses." The exhibit was a two-part interdisciplinary display that celebrated the legacy of the late Houston icon, DJ Screw. During the event, the museum's gift shop offered JU + DESIGN's products including art prints, greeting cards, and enamel pins of DJ Screw and Pimp C for visitors to purchase. The products were a hit and sold out the first weekend of the exhibit. As a result, the gift shop placed additional orders to meet the high demand.
